  • Senior Engineering Technician

SENIOR ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN

Actuality Systems, Inc. is looking to hire an experienced multi-disciplinary technician to perform mechanical, opto-mechanical, and technical electronic duties in prototyping, assembly, testing, debugging, and documentation. Typical requirements for this position include: electro-mechanical background with a minimum of five years of related experience. Applicants with geometric optic assembly experience (e.g., imaging systems) are preferred. Candidate will work from written and/or verbal instructions, must be fluent in English, and must be physically capable of lifting heavy objects.

Candidates require skill in all of the following areas:

1. Opto-mechanical assembly
Assembles optical components (lenses, mirrors, etc.) with mechanical parts. Cleans, identifies, and inspects optical components. Dexterity, precision, and proper handling technique are extremely important.

2. Electronic testing & troubleshooting
Tests and troubleshoots basic electronics to component level. Candidate must understand Ohm's Law and basic digital concepts. Solders, installs, and reworks fine-pitch PCBs as well as performs electronic tuning and testing of assemblies. Familiarity with basic diagnostic test equipment is required. Fine-pitch hand soldering and electronic component ID skills are required.

3. Mechanical assembly & light machining
Assembles mechanical components using various fastening methods. Candidate must be capable of using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measurement devices. Must be skilled in reading mechanical drawings, metal cutting, drilling, tapping, and sheetmetal fabrication.

4. QA testing
Position requires use of computers and diagnostic equipment. Candidate must have Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel skills.
