Electronic Products Magazine Honors Actuality Systems with Product of the Year Award

January 24, 2003 - Leading Industry Publication Recognizes Actuality Systems for its Spatial 3D Visualization Technology, the Perspecta TM 3D System

BURLINGTON, Mass. - January 24, 2003 - Actuality Systems, Inc., leader in spatial 3D visualization technology, was presented today with a 2002 Product of the Year award for its Perspecta TM 3D system, from Electronic Products magazine. The Perspecta 3D system, which allows 360-degree visualization of objects, organisms, and data, consists of a dome-like spatial display and a programming interface for application development.

The Actuality Systems Perspecta 3D system was chosen by the publication's editors as one of eighteen outstanding winners from thousands of product introductions in 2002. First awarded in 1976, Electronic Products Product of the Year selections are based on significant advances in technology or its application, a decided innovation in design, or a substantial gain in price-performance.

"Actuality Systems is honored to be recognized for its work in spatial 3D display technology," said Cameron Lewis, CEO of Actuality Systems. "The award helps to validate our approach to 3D visualization, and with the new customers, patents, and funding we received last year, we look forward to building on the momentum in 2003."

Typical applications for the Perspecta 3D system include: drug discovery, such as visualization of protein structures; surgical planning and radiation treatment planning, for doctors visualizing angiogram data or working to understand the exact location of a tumor on an x-ray, CAT scan, or mammogram; air-traffic control, for controllers securing and monitoring aircraft locations and traffic patterns; game development, for the visualization and creation of 3D gaming; security, for specialists seeking a faster and more reliable way to visualize the contents of freight or passenger luggage.

The award was announced in the January 2003 issue of Electronic Products. Additional information on the recipients and awards is available on the Electronic Products' Web site .

About Actuality Systems
