Cameron Lewis Joins Actuality Systems as President and Chief Executive

20-year High-Tech Veteran Will Help Company Transition from Engineering Development to Commercial Production and Sales

READING, Mass. - April 22, 2002 - Actuality Systems, Inc., developer of advanced 3-D display technology, announced today that Cameron Lewis, formerly of Network Associates and Netscape, has been named president and chief executive officer of the four-year-old firm.

Lewis joins Actuality after serving as senior vice president of marketing and business development at PatientKeeper, Inc. in San Francisco, makers of the leading mobile patient management system. His earlier experience included executive positions in marketing, distribution, and electronic commerce with Network Associates / McAfee.com, Netscape, and MedicaLogic, where he spent several years responsible for worldwide marketing, mergers and acquisitions, and electronic commerce.

"Cameron is a great choice to lead Actuality through its next phase of growth," said Rob Ryan, Actuality Systems's chairman and co-founder, who was also founder of Ascend Communications. "Over the past decade he has built an impressive range of experience and has an excellent vision of the new technology marketplace. We expect that he will help us make the most of the financial markets and establish an effective product strategy for a rebounding economy."

While at McAfee.com, Lewis was responsible for development of the first anti-virus ASP service, which grew to more than 100,000 subscribers under his leadership. At PatientKeeper, he was responsible for partnerships with Cerner and IBM, and at MedicaLogic, he headed up more than $400 million in mergers and acquisitions. While at Netscape, Lewis was responsible for the development of more than $20 million per year in online software sales.

Commenting on the new assignment, Lewis said, "Actuality has developed technology that can completely change the way business is done in a number of fields, particularly biotechnology and medical imaging. Our founder and now CTO, Gregg Favalora, and his development team have done an excellent job bringing the product through some difficult technical challenges. From here, our main task is to take the product to market and make the transition into full-scale production at the same time. It's an exciting prospect and that's where we'll be focusing our efforts."

Actuality Systems is recognized as one of the most innovative new companies working in 3-D rendering and display. A spin-off of the prestigious MIT Entrepreneurship Competition in 1997, the firm has developed a commercially available spatial display platform called Perspecta. The Perspecta display renders high-resolution color imagery that appears to float in a 20-inch-diameter globe, allowing multiple users to move completely around the 360-degree display, viewing images from any angle. The company is dedicated to open standards and is supporting a developer community. Early applications for the Perspecta displays are in biotechnology and drug design, where they are used as research tools.
