Actuality Systems Will Show Its Spherical 3D Display at Cyberposium
Held at Harvard Business School
Gregg Favalora, CTO and Founder, to Demonstrate Perspecta Spatial
3D System
What: A unique demonstration of advanced 3-D
display technology will be presented by Actuality Systems using
its highly acclaimed spherical 3-D display. The breakthrough technology
offers multiple users the ability to literally walk around the
display and view images in full 360 degrees and without the use
of special 3-D goggles.
Where: Cyberposium, Feb. 9 at Harvard Business
School in Boston. The demonstrations will be part of the Tech
Show from 12.30pm to 5pm at the Spangler Center.
Technology: The unique monitor, code-named Helios,
is shaped like a 20-inch-diameter globe and can show high-resolution
color images that appear to hover in space, allowing multiple
users to move completely around the 360-degree display and view
images from any angle. The display is believed to provide the
highest resolution volumetric imagery ever developed. Early applications
for the volumetric 3-D displays are in biotechnology and drug
design, defense and security systems, engineering and mechanical
design, and medical imaging.
Who: Company representatives, including Gregg
Favalora, founder and chief technology officer, will be available
to answer questions and discuss the technology. Actuality Systems
is a spin-off of the prestigious MIT $50k Entrepreneurship Competition.
The five-year-old company is developing next-generation volumetric
display technology with a goal of manufacturing the world's most
advanced line of volumetric 3-D displays. Founded in 1997, the
firm operates from offices in Reading, Mass., north of Boston.
